Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches is the next generation of enterprise-class stackable Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet access and aggregation layer switches that provide a convergence of wired and wireless networks on a single platform. The switch uses Cisco’s latest Unified Access Data Layer (UADP) Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) for unified wired/wireless policy enforcement, application monitoring capabilities, flexibility and application optimization. This convergence is built on the resiliency of the latest enhanced Cisco StackWise-480 technology. Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches support full IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+), Cisco Universal Power over Ethernet (Cisco UPOE), modular and field replaceable network modules, RJ45 and fiber downlink interfaces, and redundancy Fan and power supply. The Cisco Catalyst 3850 Gigabit Ethernet Switch delivers speeds of up to 10 Gbps to support existing and next-generation wireless speeds and standards (including 802.11ac Gen 2 technology) on existing cabling infrastructure.
Enable faster access and aggregation
Get ready for second-generation 802.11ac technology and other new technologies that are coming and going in the future with this access switch. The stacked Catalyst 3850 Series multi-gigabit and 10-Gbps network switches enable the convergence of wired and wireless networks, giving you the ability to scale and protect your investment.
Converged wired and wireless networks
The Catalyst 3850 switch provides intelligent, simple, and highly secure converged access through an integrated wireless controller. Each switching entity (switch or stack) supports up to 100 wireless access points and 2000 wireless clients.

The Cisco Catalyst 3850 Series Switches support five optional uplink port network modules. The default switch configuration does not include a network module . When purchasing a switch, customers can flexibly choose among the network modules described in Table 2.
Figure 4 shows the following network modules:
● 4 x Gigabit Ethernet with small form factor pluggable (SFP) receiver
● 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet with SFP+ or 4 x Gigabit Ethernet with SFP receiver
● 4 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet with SFP+ acceptor (only supported on 48-port Gigabit Ethernet models or 12-port or more 10 Gigabit Ethernet models)
With 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 2 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ or 4 10 Gigabit Ethernet
